Stefan Zywczak was born 18th of April 1958 in Sydney, the only son of Irene and Stefan, who brought him up in Polish and Australian culture.

Stefan spoke fluent Polish and was involved in Polish cultural activities, particularly in his early years. He belonged to both the Polish and the Australian Scouts. Stefan was very musical. He had perfect pitch. He loved music and was introduced to it very early in his life. For his 6th birthday he received his first tickets to the Canberra Symphony. He learned piano for 10 years. In his last years of high school he had his "band", playing piano and composing.

After passing his high school certificate examination with an aggregate ranking of 85-90%, he got an entry to the first Piano Tuning School of the NSW State Conservatorium. He was one of only sixteen applicants of one hundred and fifty who was accepted and he finished the course with distinction. This made him decide to take up piano tuning as a profession.

He was employed as a piano tuner for fifteen years at the Canberra School of Music. In 1997 he opened ACT Piano Services and many of his clients kept with him for twenty-five years. He loved them and they loved him.

Stefan had three children whom he loved dearly. He also loved people and animals, especially dogs. He had a wonderful sense of humour. And he helped many in need. There are many who remember him with love.

Stefan loved life but he did not know how to live and to manage his constant fear. He suffered from depression for many years. During this time he tried hard to find peace within himself, looking for help in different religions and consulting health helpers, psychologists, and psychiatrists. He had not much help from the professionals.

We who loved him did not know how to help him. We tried. His mother, his children and his friends miss him very much.
